Spring Allergies? Here are a few tips to help keep you exercising and outdoors.

With temperatures warming up, it’s finally time to take your exercise routine to the great outdoors! Unfortunately, as beautiful as the blooming flowers are this time of year, they may also be causing you to suffer from seasonal allergies. Don’t let a few sniffles keep you from enjoying exercising outside! Here are some tips that will help you enjoy your workout outside and leave your tissues at home.

  • Try exercising in the morning or in the evening when pollen counts tend to be lower.

  • Wear sunglasses to keep pollen out of your eyes.

  • Be sure to get your daily dose of antioxidants from fruits and vegetables, and try avoiding dairy, which can cause congestion.

  • Use a cream such as Vaseline around your nostrils to act as a barrier and keep pollen out of your nose.

  • Boost your immune system with probiotics to help balance the bacteria in your gut and prevent the immune system from overreacting to allergens.

  • Flush your allergies down the drain by using a neti-pot to remove excess pollen and dust from your nose.
