Although summer is almost over, it is still very hot outside in many parts of the country. While ice cream, popsicles, and frozen treats may be on your mind, the calories in these sugary desserts can add up all too quickly. Frozen PB&J bites are a great alternative!

Frozen bananas have a fantastic creamy consistency, are packed with potassium, and have far less sugar than ice cream. Topped with a drizzle of peanut butter and some berries, these little bites taste just like a frozen PB&J sandwich! Not only will you and your family love snacking on these bites, but the healthy fats from peanut butter, fiber from berries, and natural sugars from the fruit will keep you satisfied. Make a big batch, throw them in your freezer, and you’ll be ready for any end-of-summer heat waves!

Ingredients

-1 banana

-1 T peanut butter or nut butter of choice

-1/4 cup frozen raspberries, blueberries, and/or strawberries

Instructions

1.   Slice bananas into 1-inch slices, and freeze for 1-2 hours.

2.   Before removing bananas from the freezer, gently heat peanut butter in the microwave for 15-20 seconds, until slightly runny.

3.   Top each banana with a drizzle of peanut butter and a sprinkle of frozen berries.

4.   Freeze until solid and enjoy!
